Lydia Slater 

Editor-in-Chief, Harper’s Bazaar 

Lydia Slater is the Editor-in-Chief of Harper’s Bazaar, where she leads the iconic magazine in celebrating fashion, culture and the modern career woman. 

Since joining as Deputy Editor in 2015, she has transformed the brand with impactful initiatives such as the Harper’s Bazaar Power Dinner, a celebration of visionary women, and most recently Bazaar Privé, an exclusive membership programme for the magazine’s influential readership. Under her editorship, the magazine’s annual Women of the Year Awards has become a highlight of the global cultural calendar, attended by international stars from film, fashion, music and art. 

A recognised fashion authority, Lydia judges the annual Goodwood Talent in Fashion Awards and sits on the press committee of the British Fashion Council; she contributed a chapter to Balenciaga: Kublin – A Fashion Record (Thames & Hudson, 2024).  She also serves on the advisory council of Walpole’s Women in Luxury programme, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of the Ginsburg Women’s Health Board. 

Prior to joining Harper’s Bazaar, Lydia was the launch editor of The Week Fashion magazine, and Something About magazine. She edited the Sunday Times Style magazine and was a columnist for The Sunday Times and ES Magazine, and an interviewer for The Times and the Daily Telegraph. She is married with two daughters and lives in London.
